Reds call up Aristides Aquino

We knew the Reds had a roster spot to fill and could use an outfielder. Promoting Aquino seemed the obvious way to go.

Aquino, from the Dominican Republic, has hit .299/.356/.636 at AAA-Louisville. Here’s a little bit of info on Aquino from Doug Gray.

This isn’t Aquino’s first major league stint. The Reds called him up briefly last season. He got one plate appearance and struck out. We suspect this trip to the majors for Aquino will last longer.

Steve Mancuso

Steve Mancuso is a lifelong Reds fan who grew up during the Big Red Machine era. He’s been writing about the Reds for more than ten years. Steve’s fondest memories about the Reds include attending a couple 1975 World Series games, being at Homer Bailey’s second no-hitter and going nuts for Jay Bruce at Clinchmas. Steve was also at all three games of the 2012 NLDS, but it’s too soon to talk about that.
