RC+: Reds go for 4-game sweep in Miami

The Reds (63-69) have taken three from the Miami Marlins and hope to make it four tonight before they head to St Louis for a 4-game series.

Pitching Matchup

Alex Wood is still working to get back to being the pitcher he’s been before this season. He makes his 7th start for the Reds.

Robert Dugger (24) is a rookie who has made one major league start. He has started 15 games at the AA level and 10 games at AAA. In his sole big league start he pitched 5 innings. So these stats aren’t worth much. In 431 innings across four years of minor league pitching, Dugger struck out 417 batters and walked 24.

Scouting: Dugger has a fastball in the low-90s that can reach 96 mph, although his average in his one major league game was 90.4 mph. His second pitch is a slider.

Steve Mancuso

Steve Mancuso is a lifelong Reds fan who grew up during the Big Red Machine era. He’s been writing about the Reds for more than ten years. Steve’s fondest memories about the Reds include attending a couple 1975 World Series games, being at Homer Bailey’s second no-hitter and going nuts for Jay Bruce at Clinchmas. Steve was also at all three games of the 2012 NLDS, but it’s too soon to talk about that.
